Managing Medical Licenses
The License Manager helps you track all your professional credentials in one place. Upload license documents and CredFolio automatically extracts the details, or add them manually.

License Manager Overview
Access the License Manager from the main navigation. Your licenses are organized into four tabs:

Adding Licenses
Method 1: Upload a License Document
The easiest way to add a license is to upload the document:
Go to your Dashboard
Drag and drop your license document or click Upload
Wait for AI processing to complete
Review the extracted details
Click Confirm to save
When you confirm a license document, it automatically creates a license entry in the License Manager.
Method 2: Add Manually
To add a license without a document:
Go to License Manager
Click "+ Add License" (or "+ Add" button within each tab)
Select the license type
Fill in the required details
Click Save

Your state licenses connect directly to CredEngine™ for CME tracking:
How it works:
When you add a state license, CredFolio creates a CME tracking cycle
State-specific requirements are automatically loaded (hours, special topics)
CME credits you upload are allocated toward your license requirements
Progress is tracked toward your renewal deadline
Go to CME Manager to see your progress for each license.
Managing Your Licenses
Editing a License
To edit license details:
Find the license in License Manager
Click the menu icon (three dots)
Select "Edit"
Make your changes
Click Save
Document-Sourced Licenses: If the license was created from a document upload, clicking Edit opens the document confirmation dialog so you can update both the document and license details together.
Archiving a License
When you no longer hold a license (e.g., moved to a different state), you can archive it:
Click the menu icon on the license
Select "Archive"
Confirm the archive
Archived licenses are hidden from main views but preserved for records. You can restore them anytime.
Practice Arrangements (State Licenses)
For state medical licenses, you can track your practice arrangements:
Primary practice location
Practice type (employed, locum tenens, etc.)
Supervising physician (if applicable)

How do I add a medical license?
To add a medical license, the easiest method is to upload your license document to your Dashboard. CredFolio's AI will extract the license details automatically. You can also add licenses manually from the License Manager by clicking "+ Add License".
What happens when my license expires?
When a license approaches expiration, CredFolio sends you alerts based on your plan:
Free: 7-day advance notice
Pro: 30-day advance notice
Premium: Cascade alerts at 90, 60, 30, and 7 days + SMS
How does CME tracking connect to my licenses?
CME tracking is connected to your state licenses. When you add a state license, CredFolio creates a CME tracking cycle based on your license's renewal date. The CME credits you upload are allocated toward meeting your state's requirements.
Can I track licenses from multiple states?
Yes. You can add licenses from as many states as you hold. CME tracking for multiple states requires:
Free: 1 state
Pro: 1 state
Premium: Unlimited states
What if my license document wasn't recognized correctly?
If the AI didn't extract your license details correctly, you can edit them during confirmation or later from the License Manager. Click "Edit" on any license to make corrections.
